How to use

Features

1. Stats tester plus allows you to perform several statistical tests in a very simple operation.
2. Ten-keypads are built into the app, making it easy to enter data.
3. Input and output data are temporarily stored in memory for each test, and the previous result can be checked. (see Privacy policy).
4. The output screen can be emailed or copied/pasted via the iPhone memory for your records.
5. External data can be tested by copy/paste. The method is described at the end of this [Help].
6. With some exceptions, the maximum number of data for proportion and frequency tests is 1,000 or 1,000,000.
The maximum number for processing raw data is 100 for one group.

 

・The tapping of [Calc] button or a title bar of test screen lowers the keyboard.

 

Main menu screen

1. Tap the test name to move to the test screen.
2. Tap [Help & Option] button to show the [Usage Help] button and the keyboard switch. You can switch the keyboard between the built-in and system keyboard (M1 Mac compatible).
3. [Clear all] button clears all past data saved in the memory.

 

Each test screen

1. [<] button or "Swipe at left-edge" backs to the main menu screen.
2. [Help] button shows help for each statistics test.
3. [Example] button enters example data.
4. [Calc] button performs statistics test.
(1) Input/output data are stored in the internal memory.
(2) These data can be deleted by [Clear all] button.
5. [Clear] button clears the input data and test results, and displays hints for the input.
(1) In the [Two-sample t-test] or [One-way ANOVA], this button clears all input windows (A and B, or A - D).
(2) To clear only the input window of group X, tap the "[X]clr" button above the input window.
6. [Graph] button displays the graph. Graph can be saved by the screenshot function of iPhone.
7. With the [Share] button, the contents of the output window can be recorded by sharing with the app (such as Notes and Mail).

 

Input window

Data can be ..
1. entered using the keyboard.
2. pasted from the clipboard.
3. copied to the clipboard.
4. For the format of input data, see the "hint" displayed after tapping [Clear] button. [Example] button shows example data.

 

Characters that can be entered

1. Numerical letters, etc.: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, . (decimal point) and - (minus)
2. Comma and space: Both are used to separate values. Space delimiters make it easier to process external data from Numbers.
3. The enter key(↩︎) has different functions depending on the test as shown in the example below.
1) [Mean, SD, etc.]:
An enter key has the same meaning as space- and comma-keys, and is used to separate values.
2) [Paired sample t-test]:
An enter key is used to separate the values in a pair.

 

Built-In numeric keyboard

Numeric keypads in phone layout (147) and calculator layout (741) are available. These can be switched on the [Help & Option] screen. It is also possible to switch to the keyboard on your iPhone.

 

Output window

Results on the output-window can be shared using other apps (ex. mailer and editors). For example, you can keep a record by sending an email to yourself.

 

How to use internal and external data

For example, you can copy the input data of [A-1. Mean, SD, etc.] and paste it into the input window of [G-1. Shapiro-Wilk test].

 

External data such as Numbers, Excel and Notes can be used as follows.
1. [B-2. Two-sample t-test] (2-input window)
Operate as in the followings.
1) Copy the first coloumn data in Numbers.
2) Paste it into the input window-A of [Two-sample t-test].
3) Copy the second coloumn data in Numbers.
4) Paste it into the input window-B of [Two-sample t-test].
The same applies to data entry into the four windows (A to D) of [B-6. One-way ANOVA].
2. [F-1. Linear Regression ....]
It is necessary to input one pair of data as one line to Stats tester plus.
1) Numbers, Excel:
Save the paired data in two adjacent columns of Numbers. Copy / paste the two column data at once into the input window of [Linear Regression ....].
2) Notes:
Save the paired data separated by space or comma to Notes. Copy / paste data from Notes to the input window of [Linear Regression ....].
